The Philadelphia Eagles had a bit of an injury scare on Sunday when offensive lineman Mekhi Becton left practice early with an apparent right leg injury.

However, according to Bleacher Reports' Jordan Schultz, Becton is going to be just fine.

"#Eagles G/T Mekhi Becton, who left practice on Sunday with a leg injury, avoided anything serious and should be fine, per sources," Schultz wrote on Twitter/X.

Adding, "The rejuvenated Becton is the favorite to start at RG in Week 1 vs the #Packers in Brazil."

That's a huge sigh of relief considering the Eagles' alternative to start at right guard, Tyler Steen, is also nursing an injury

While Becton has not officially been named the Eagles' starting right guard, all signs point to him being the guy come Week 1.

After taking a majority of the first-team reps at the position through training camp, Becton did not dress in the Eagles' preseason win over the New England Patriots last Thursday night. Typically, only starters don't play in preseason games.

However, when asked about Becton winning the right guard job, head coach Nick Sirianni was hesitant to make things official.

“Yeah, we still have some time to think through some things,” Sirianni told reporters. “We’re going to have some really good physical practices next week, almost some operational things, different things like that. So we’ll see. No reason to say anything one way or the other right now because we’re still working through it. So we’ll see.”

The right guard job was initially Steen's to lose after the Eagles moved Cam Jurgens to center to kick off spring training. That was, however, until they signed Becton, a 6-foot-7, 363-pound offensive tackle, and started cross-training him at guard.

Becton had never played guard but he has picked up on the position rather quickly.

Expect Becton to sit out again in the Eagles' preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday.
