Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean is considered one of the most intriguing prospects in this year's draft class and the Philadelphia Eagles are interested in him.
Sources tell Jake Rabadi of The Liberty Line that "there are some in the Eagles organization who rave over" DeJean.
Rabadi also reports that the former Iowa star has a top-30 visit scheduled with the Eagles.
DeJean's versatility is what makes him an intriguing first-round draft prospect as he's played outside cornerback, slot corner and safety during his time with the Hawkeyes.
The 6-foot-1 and 205-pound defensive back caught the nation's attention during his final two years at Iowa as he compiled 120 total tackles, 20 passed defended and seven interceptions (three returned for a touchdown). Additionally, he was a standout punt returner for the Hawkeyes, returning 31 punts for 406 yards and one touchdown.
Iowa's defensive coordinator Phil Parker believes DeJean has the ability to line up anywhere in the secondary because of his insane athleticism.
"He's a very rare athlete, could probably play all five positions on the back end, at least for us," Parker said, via Fox Sports' Greg Auman. "I think he could be a very productive player at safety, and if they play single-high, I think he could cover a lot of ground, but that's not to say he can't play on a slot receiver or can't play a guy on the edge, either … It's very rare to have a kid who can do all those things, and his skill set as far as his hands — to me, they're almost like Spider-Man, how he can catch the ball."
The Eagles' lackluster secondary could use someone like DeJean, so it makes sense as to why they're reportedly so high on him with their No. 22 overall first-round pick.
DeJean did not test at the NFL Combine due to a fractured fibula in his left leg but he is expected to workout privately in front of scouts on April 15.
