Tarron Jackson, the sixth-round selection by the Eagles in 2021, knows his work at becoming a better player is far from finished.
That's why after practice on Tuesday, the defensive end offered some insight into what he works on to continue developing as a player.
"I started getting comfortable with the techniques and everything," Jackson said. "For me, it was more learning how to get off the ball, learning how to gain ground, and just getting comfortable.
"This offseason, I worked on being more consistent — more consistent with the get-off — more consistent with my hands. And all around, I am just being more consistent with my game."
Consistency is a welcomed sign from Jackson.
Where Jackson can make a difference
In 2021 he showed flashes of what he could be if he put it all together, collecting 11 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble. But he could never string together a long stretch of football where he was an every-play contributor on the defense.
That is apt to change moving forward. In part, because he will have another year in the Eagles' system under his belt, but also because he's built up a mindset that focuses on getting better in the little things.
"It's a mindset thing," Jackson said. "I come out and give it all I have, work on the techniques I'm supposed to be working on. And don't make things bigger than they are."
Jackson saw action in 253 defensive snaps last season, and he recorded nine pressures to go along with two tackles for a loss. He is hungry to do more and be more ahead of the 2022 NFL season.
"Before practice, I always come around early to work on some get-offs," Jackson said. "I like to work on that kind of stuff."
