Eagles release offensive lineman Brett Toth
Roster moves are going to start picking up.
For many people, the stories of service academy players finding a way to make it to the NFL have become some of the most compelling in the sport.
Guys that spend most of their time in college learning how to defend the country and see football as secondary that can still find a way to make it through the rigorous process of making an NFL team have a way of drawing fans from across the country.
Offensive lineman Brett Toth of the Philadelphia Eagles was one such player over the last few years, but it seems like injuries have made his current prospects in the NFL a bit shakier.
After brief stints with the Cardinals and Eagles at the start of his NFL career, Toth made his way back to Philly when he signed in 2020.
Toth ended up seeing very limited playing time with Philadelphia due to a talented offensive line and various injuries, and despite the great story of a graduate from West Point being on a team that made it to the Super Bowl, the Eagles finally had to move on from the often-injured lineman.
This is a tough break for a guy with a great story, but there is still hope and some upside there if Toth can find a way to get and then stay healthy.
Plenty of teams across the league could use a scrappy depth lineman if they can count on him. The Eagles weren't in that place now, but perhaps another team will give Brett Toth a shot before he goes on to serve our country through his deferred service.
