In a season where Jalen Hurts proved he belongs in the same group as other elite quarterbacks in the NFL, he also managed to assure one of the most important evaluators in the front office of his abilities as a starting quarterback — Eagles CEO Jeff Lurie.

As Hurts is preparing to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, Eagles owner Lurie was asked about his starting quarterback and the probability of a long-term deal. Lurie didn't hesitate to validate the assumption that Hurts is going to be Philadelphia's quarterback for a long time because he's proven all he needs to.

Hurts should run a how-to prove you belong course for young quarterbacks in the NFL. The former second-round pick was looking at a career as a backup until he proved better than Carson Wentz. Once he got one opportunity as a starter, he never looked back. Hurts improved from week to week, and this season, he walked into the MVP discussion — deserving so.

He made NFL history with 23 rushing touchdowns in his first 32 starts. that is a mark better than any other quarterback in NFL history. And this season, Hurts led the Eagles to a 14-1 record as a starter, completing 306-of-460 (66.5%) attempts for 3,701 yards (8.0 avg.), 22 TDs, 6 INTs, and 101.6 passer rating.

So, it is no surprise he has nothing left to prove.
