The Philadelphia Eagles announced some roster moves on Tuesday ahead of their NFC Championship playoff game against the Washington Commanders.
The team signed tight end Cameron Latu to a reserve/future contract and released wide receiver Elijah Cooks from the practice squad.
Latu, 24, was originally drafted out of Alabama by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
His rookie season was cut short suffered a torn meniscus during Week 3 of the NFL preseason and was immediately placed on injured reserve and underwent successful surgery. He was, however, released a year later.
Latu was picked up by the Cleveland Browns this past season and spent the year on the practice squad.
He has yet to appear in an NFL game but signing a reserve/future contract with Philly will give him a chance to compete for a roster spot in the spring.
Before entering the 2023 draft, Latu hauled in 56 catches for 787 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Crimson Tide in two seasons.
He joins former 49ers running back Tyrion Davis-Price, tight end Tariq Castro-Fields, and wide receiver Danny Gray who are also currently with the Birds.
As for Cooks, he signed with the Eagles last week. His release means the Eagles now have an open practice squad spot to fill.
