The Philadelphia Eagles were still the only team in the NFL that had not scored in the first quarter heading into Week 6.

However, they finally broke that trend in Week 9's 28-23 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The touchdown came early in the first quarter when quarterback Jalen Hurts found Saquon Barkley in the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown catch.

The touchdown also marked Barkley's first at Lincoln Financial Field as an Eagles.

Hurts finished 18-for-24 for 230 yards, with two passing touchdowns and one rushing score. Meanwhile, Barkley rushed 27 times for 159 yards and a touchdown. He added another 40 yards and a score in the air.

The Eagles' slow starts had a lot to do with the team finding their identity, which appeared to have come full circle in this game despite some questionable play calls and silly mistakes.

Overall, however, the team played well and head coach Nick Sirianni was very pleased with both sides of the ball.

"I’m just happy with the way the guys played," Sirianni said after the game. "I thought we played with great fundamentals today. I will be interested to see what our tackling numbers are coming out of today. I thought [LB] Zack Baun tackled his butt off. [S] Reed [Blankenship] had some good tackles; [DB] Coop [Cooper DeJean].

"We caught the ball well. There were some unbelievable catches both offensively and defensively with a lot of things that we talk about. We took the ball away well. I’ll get some clarification on [RB] Saquon [Barkley]’s fumble, but I thought we took care of the ball and [QB] Jalen [Hurts] did a great job taking care of the football. I thought our fundamentals we work so hard on were really on point today, which helped us get the win today. It’s tough to win."

The Eagles are now 6-2 and face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 11.
