Eagles showing interest in top draft prospect who is already in their backyard
The Eagles have their eye on improving the offensive line.
NFL Draft visits and discussions have arrived. Prospects are set to talk to teams regularly, as front offices get a pulse on prospects ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
For the Philadelphia Eagles, a fantastic potential first-round pick for them is right in their own backyard. He’s already on their radar, and that is a smart move by Philly.
Penn State lineman Vega Ioane visited with Eagles
According to Zach Berman, Penn State guard Vega Ioane visited the Eagles facility on Monday. He is widely expected to be a first-round pick, and potentially in the top fifteen.
For the Eagles, Tyler Steen is projected to start at right guard once again in 2025. Looking ahead, though, it is possible that Philly wants to upgrade at that spot for the future.
Keep in mind that Landon Dickerson, the starter at left guard, mulled retirement this offseason, so his long-term outlook is also a bit more cloudy than people would have expected at this time last year. With how the Eagles value offensive line, this visit doesn’t surprise me.
If by some surprising chance Ioane falls to the early 20s, I think it makes all the sense in the world for the Eagles to pick him. At the same time, Howie Roseman has never been afraid to trade up to go get his guy. If Ioane is that and the Birds want him to stay local, that could be an outcome as well in late April.
“Ioane projects as an immediate starter at the NFL level at guard and he showcases strong refinement and football intellect to process games within the front or late changes to the blocking surface at the snap. He’s physically matured to handle the rigors of blocking pro defenders and could be a long-term starter for a team across multiple contracts in his NFL career.” — Kyle Crabbs
Ioane îs ranked as the 17th overall prospect in the class (#1 IOL) via the A to Z Sports rankings for the 2026 class.
