The Philadelphia Eagles’ recent string of injuries continued on Tuesday with news that DE Robert Quinn is heading to Injured Reserve.
Quinn, who the Eagles acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears, is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery to his knee this week, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Since joining the Eagles, Quinn has spent his time adjusting to defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon’s scheme. The move was ultimately made in hopes to add a situational pass rusher to create havoc on opposing quarterbacks in the postseason.
While it remains to be seen exactly when Quinn will make his return, he is eligible to be activated from IR for the team’s Week 18 matchup with the New York Giants.
The Eagles likely won’t have much to play for in the regular season finale, almost guaranteeing Quinn's return likely won’t be until the NFL Playoffs.
It's a disappointing setback, but the three-time Pro Bowler still has an opportunity to make a lasting impact in Philadelphia.
