The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to accept an invitation from the White House to celebrate their 40-22 Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs with President Donald Trump.

Now, they're just waiting for a formal invitation, and President Trump says he plans to send them one.

"They will be [invited], we haven't yet, but we will be," Trump told reporters this week. "I thought it was a great performance by them and absolutely they'll be extended an invitation. Would you do that right away by the way? We'll do it right away, we're going to do it sometime today. They deserve to be down here and we hope to see them."

This is a change of pace from when the Eagles declined their White House invite from President Trump in 2018 following their Super Bowl LII win over the New England Patriots.

A lot has changed since then with the Eagles, including their coaching staff and player roster. In fact, the only players left from that Super Bowl run are Lane Johnson, Brandon Graham, Jake Lovato, and Jake Elliott.

President Trump made history at the game, becoming the first sitting president ever to attend a Super Bowl.

He did, however, predict that the Chiefs would win.

“I guess you have to say that when a quarterback wins as much as he’s won, I have to go with Kansas City,” President Trump said ahead of the game.

If and when the Eagles do make it to Washington, D.C., they will have to roast Trump for that hot take.
