The Philadelphia Eagles had a rough ending to the weekend via their 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.
Philly's loss to the Chiefs is going to be tough to swallow for Eagles fans thanks to the controversial holding call on James Bradberry that allowed Kansas City to run the clock down to less than 10 seconds remaining and kick the game-winning field goal.
Bradberry took responsibility for the penalty after the game, but it was still a "ticky-tack" call that robbed the Eagles' of a legitimate chance to win the game.
Ending the season on a sour note like that is something that will sting all offseason.
Something else that will sting is the unfortunate news that Philadelphia learned after the Super Bowl.
The Eagles are losing offensive coordinator Shane Steichen this week.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday morning that Steichen is flying to Indianapolis on Monday afternoon to finalize a deal to become the Colts' new head coach.
Steichen will replace Frank Reich, another former Eagles offensive coordinator, in Indy.
Losing great assistants is never a positive. It's a common reality for elite teams, but it doesn't make the loss any easier.
The good news for Philadephia, however, is that they have a quality replacement ready to go.
Quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson can slide into Steichen's role and allow for some important continuity for Jalen Hurts and the rest of the Eagles' offense.
While that's a positive, this is still a big loss for Philly and something they'll have to adjust to this offseason.
