Narratives get pretty wild around the NFL during the slow parts of the offseason. After recent reports swirled on potential unrest inside the Philadelphia Eagles building regarding quarterback Jalen Hurts, a former teammate of his has his back in a major way.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson defends Eagles QB Jalen Hurts amid social media disrespect

C.J. Gardner-Johnson mentioned that fact that Hurts has consistently had to adjust his play and preparation due to a nearly annual change at offensive coordinator.

Whether the OC found a ton of success, like a Kellen Moore, or the coach struggled and Philly moved on, like a Kevin Patullo, the shifts have always been something extra for him to manage. He’s never been able to get overly comfortable in a scheme.

Gardner-Johnson notes that and appreciates how Hurts has helped the Eagles find winning success despite it.

“7 different systems and still was able to get back and to win one! RARE!!!!!!!”

Gardner-Johnson also shared an image of himself that Jalen Hurts posted on his account after Philadelphia won Super Bowl LIX. Clearly, the two were close and shared a strong bond, even if the DB did not spend a ton of time in Philadelphia.

The other spot regarding Hurts was also understandable. The former Eagles defensive back questioned why Hurts is getting bashed so consistently across platforms seemingly out of nowhere.

Yes, it is the offseason. That being said, there are other quarterbacks around the league who could draw even more controversy when it comes to their play in the past or outlook for the future.

Gardner-Johnson isn’t buying what other folks are selling when it comes to the narratives circling social media on the Eagles QB.

“Why do this …… like come on! People will continue to bash this man for what reason??? Plenty other QB news we can talk about” — Gardner-Johnson on Hurts via X/Twitter

People may not have expected this sort of defense and emotion from the former Eagles defender. That being said, you know Hurts appreciates it and will keep it in mind going forward. As for Gardner-Johnson, he is currently a member of the Buffalo Bills.
