Grading the signing: Eagles’ latest pickup could have a ton of pressure on him based on what happens with A.J. Brown
The Eagles just picked up a playmaker for the offense.
Howie Roseman is back to being active on the free agent market. The Philadelphia Eagles offense is getting a new pass catcher after re-signing tight end Dallas Goedert this past weekend.
Eagles add potential WR3 to offense alongside A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith
According to reports, the Eagles have agreed to a one-year deal with veteran wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. The deal is worth up to $6.5 million.
This is an interesting addition for the Eagles, as Brown’s speed could be a nice change of pace from the rest of the pass catchers in the offense. I think that the grading of this signing has to have a bit of a vacuumed-look to it.
If A.J. Brown remains in the fold and Hollywood is your third WR option, then it is a smart move. He can be trusted with that sort of role in Sean Mannion’s offense, even if it won’t be pass-heavy with Jalen Hurts at quarterback.
On the flip-side, if A.J. Brown is dealt away and Hollywood must step into the WR2 role behind Devonta Smith, that is concerning for the Eagles due to his injury history and potential lack of availability for Philadelphia.
Hollywood Brown signing GRADE: B-
Brown’s production with Kansas City and potential going forward
“A first-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 out of the University of Oklahoma, Brown’s first season in Kansas City was cut short due to a shoulder injury suffered in preseason Week 1. During his second season with the team in 2025, he drew six starts and played in 16 games, recording 49 receptions for 587 yards and five touchdowns.
He led all Chiefs receivers in yards, first downs (29), and tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns. If he can stay healthy, Brown has a high ceiling in a pass-heavy offense, but he never reached his true potential with the Chiefs.” — Charles Goldman
The Eagles may not have made many splashy moves so far in free agency, but they have all made sense and addressed clear roster hole. Now, we wait to see what else is on the horizon ahead of and during the 2026 NFL Draft.
A.J. Brown’s trade situation looms as well.
