Many records have fallen during the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2022 campaign. That being said, one Eagles defender is in position to make even more history in the team’s upcoming matchup with the New York Giants.
The Eagles’ defense has been e revelation this season. An elite pass rush coupled with an opportunistic secondary have Philadelphia ranked as the NFL’s No. 2 total defense.
Pass rusher Haason Reddick has been a pivotal piece to the Eagles’ defensive front. Reddick leads the Birds with nine sacks on the season. He's also tallied at least a share of a sack in each of his last four games.
In fact, Reddick has registered at least a share of a sack in eight of his last 10 games. He has established himself as, not just one of the NFL’s hottest pass rushers, but one of its most consistent as well.
After recording 11 sacks with the Carolina Panthers in 2021 and a career-12.5 sacks with the Arizona Cardinals in 2020, Reddick has an opportunity to become a part of NFL history.
Just one sack shy of double digits, Reddick can become the first player to record at least 10 sacks in three consecutive seasons with three different teams since 1982, when the individual sack became a statistic.
Wherever Reddick goes, sacks seem to follow.
He has a golden opportunity against the Giants this week. New York has given up the fifth most sacks in the league with 37, which puts them in a tie with the Washington Commanders. If there was ever a week to add to his total, this just might be it.
