The Philadelphia Eagles' stock rose this offseason.
And with Week 1 inching closer, ESPN released a roadmap to how all 32 NFL teams can win Super Bowl LVII. Like many, ESPN overwhelmingly believes the Eagles can make the playoffs. However, the publication shows little faith in Philadelphia's ability to win big once in.
ESPN gave Philadelphia a 52.4% chance of making the playoffs and a 3.4% chance of winning the Super Bowl.
With uncertainty still surrounding Jalen Hurts, those listed percentages are understandable. Yet, with the improvements Philadelphia made during the offseason, it's easy to see a world where the organization is playing for a Super Bowl come February.
Here is what ESPN had to say:
"The Eagles enter the season as one of the trendier long-shot Super Bowl selections on the market. It's not difficult to understand, as the Eagles aced this offseason, return a roster that won six of its seven final meaningful games during the regular season and can dream on a third-year breakout for quarterback Jalen Hurts."
Where Philadelphia does draw criticism is on the defensive side of the ball. The Eagles will only be as good as the defense allows them to be. That means Philadelphia has to get the most out of everyone who plays.
To the optimism found in Eagles fans, that is a real possibility.
Second-year coordinator Jonathan Gannon is blessed with a deep defensive line and two outstanding corners.
If he gets the most out of a middle-of-the-road linebacking group, Philadelphia's defense should hold up just fine.
