Philadelphia Eagles general manger Howie Roseman has had the Midas touch. Seemingly every move he makes has turned to gold for the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL.
Roseman has done well in building a Super Bowl caliber roster that meshes with head coach Nick Sirianni’s run-first offensive identity. The latest example of Roseman’s genius comes in the form of left guard Landon Dickerson.
Dickerson is playing in his second season with the Eagles after the team drafted him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Though this pick was questioned by fans at the time, it’s clear that Dickerson is capable of anchoring the Eagles’ offensive line for years to come.
Through seven weeks of the season, Dickerson has been the NFL’s best run blocker. His 80 percent run block win rate is tops in the league.
His strengths cater to what Sirianni wants this offense to do. However, he brings much more to the table than his ability in the run game. Dickerson also ranks first in the NFL in pass block win rate (98%).
The 24-year-old out of the University of Alabama can truly do it all.
Roseman’s offseason trade to acquire A.J. Brown creates an extra avenue for the Eagles offense, but it’s difficult to move the ball if the guys up front aren’t moving defenders back.
Roseman has been pushing all of the right buttons for Philadelphia, but by drafting rising stars, like Dickerson, it allows the franchise an opportunity to sustain success for the long term.
