Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders took full advantage of being in the presence of a Super Bowl-winning quarterback during joint training camp practice with Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.

After wrapping up practice on Thursday, Sanders was standing chatting with Hurts for a long time.

Hurts even ended up giving Sanders, who injured his oblique at practice, a ride to the locker room.

Hurts wouldn’t fully reveal exactly what the two discussed, though he hinted that he gave the Browns’ 2025 fifth-round draft pick some advice.

“I’ll keep the conversation intimate. We had a very lengthy conversation,” Hurts said. “He came to me and just wanted to talk. I’m always there…giving my perspective on what I see and how I’ve gone about things. Ultimately, it takes a great deal of patience and hard work, and a sense of resilience. You’ve got to want it. You’ve got to want it. I’m supporting him from where I am and wishing him nothing but the best with his opportunities.”

Hurts’ path from backup to Super Bowl MVP quarterback was far from an easy one, so he knows what kind of value he holds when it comes to helping the younger guys — even if they are on the opposing sideline.

“There’s a sense of obligation to be yourself and who I am,” Hurts said. “To, you know, be honest and genuine in expressing how I got to where I am today. It wasn’t an easy journey. It’s always going to present its own challenges, but, you know, continue to be who I am, continue to carry myself in a humble way and always putting the work first. So I know and I’m aware of that. I know that’s a torch that I hold, and it’s something I respect and embrace and accept for what it is. At the same time, I always put my focus on always being the best I can be, and, hopefully, my actions can speak louder than anything that I can say.”

Sanders is not expected to play on Saturday with his injury, but he did shine in the Browns’ first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, completing 4 of 23 passes for 138 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran four times for 19 yards.
