Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts surprises the football world on a weekly basis. In Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bears, Hurts shocked one teammate who knows him as well as anybody.

Eagles left tackle holds down Hurts’ blindside. His job is to keep Hurts upright so that the Eagles’ phenom can work his magic inside, and often times outside, the pocket.

Philadelphia has what many believe to be the NFL’s best offensive line. However, even the best offensive lines see their signal caller get hit from time to time.

No matter how big the hit, Hurts always bounces right off the ground. Even when he takes off to run, Hurts seems to embrace contact, although Eagles fans would prefer a more cautious approach.

Following the game Mailata was asked for his thoughts on Hurts’ ability to take hits and pop back up as if nothing happened. His response is the perfect microcosm for how Hurts’ teammates feel about his toughness.

“The one that scared me he just laid there. I ran over and said ‘Stay down.’ And he said, ‘Pick me the fuck up.’ And I said, ‘Yes, sir,’” Mailata said via The Enquirer’s Jeff McLane.

It’s safe to say that Hurts has adapted to the city’s mindset, taking his bumps and bruises in stride.

Nothing seems to knock Hurts off of his game, which is extremely rare for a quarterback playing in his third season. That being said, hopefully the hits are few and far between as the Eagles will need its MVP quarterback to be healthy for a Super Bowl run.
