The NFL is an unpredictable beast, and the Philadelphia Eagles learned that all too well this week. Beloved offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland is stepping away from the Eagles organization. He may continue to coach elsewhere or choose to retire from the sideline.

Jason Kelce always makes his opinion known when it comes to Eagles headlines – for good reason. That was no different with this news bombshell out of Philly.

Jason Kelce credits his career to Jeff Stoutland

The legendary Eagles center didn’t hold back on the emotion when he made a statement about Stoutland’s exit on social media. He credits a lot of his career success to the offensive line coach.

“There is absolutely no one I credit more with the career I had than Jeff Stoutland. The consistent passion and his eagerness to teach pushed my teammates, me, and our room to amazing success. More importantly, we became incredibly close as people. It was more than just coaching and teaching, it was his presence and sense of urgency that was unaccepting of mediocrity and potential left behind. He will undoubtedly be missed inside the building, and everyone that played for him. I am incredible grateful to have played for Stout, 1 of 1 coach and person. I love you coach.”

Stoutland may coach with another team in the NFL instead of retiring

According to Mike Garafolo, the future of Stoutland isn’t specifically known. It is only currently clear that he’s leaving the coaching staff for the Eagles. Other teams around the NFL have been checking in with him to see if he would keep coaching and join them.

There is also a possibility that Stoutland will be involved with the Eagles in a completely different compact than being the OL coach or any sort of on-field assistant, too.

The Eagles will now kook to replace Stoutland, but the issue is that is nearly impossible. He’s been endeared as one of the elite OL minds in all of football, and every team around the league would love to employ him.

Accordingly, losing him is a tough, tough pill to swallow for the future of the Eagles offense. Sean Mannion’s tasks as the newest offensive coordinator just got a bit more intriguing.
