Byard joins the defense as an All-Pro player in a talented secondary, but it reaches far past the football field. The safety was born in Philly, and Brian Dawkins is one of his favorite players. Dawkins is an Eagles and NFL legend at safety.
Dawkins was one of the best safeties in the league during his career. He made nine Pro Bowls and was a 4x All-Pro. He spent thirteen years in Philly.
For Byard, he gets the chance to follow him up as the next great safety to play for the Eagles. In seven complete seasons, Byard has two All-Pros and two Pro Bowl nominations. You could argue that those numbers should be higher, too.
It's pretty cool to see a player like Byard get a chance to place for his hometown. The Titans have struggled this season and moved on from the veteran.
Now, he gets the chance to play for a Super Bowl contender with plenty of heartfelt ties.
