Right now, Philadelphia Eagles fans need no more reasons to celebrate. They've got enough. They're Super Bowl champions for the second time in franchise history. This is the NFL, lifting the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the year is all that matters.
But still, Eagles fans will love to hear Lane Johnson's postgame message on his future. After confirming earlier in Super Bowl week he wasn't retiring, he's doubling down on the decision after securing the second ring of his career.
"I'm not retiring," Johnson reiterated to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
While not news, it's still music to the ears of Eagles' fans. Johnson said during the week leading up to the game he was "definitely" not hanging it up:
"No, I'm definitely not retiring after this game, win or lose," Johnson said. "Definitely playing next year. That's really how you take it, I guess, when you get up there in age, you take it one year at a time. Physically, I feel a lot better than I have in the past couple years. Feel really good. For being this late in the year, it's usually not like that. I'm thankful, we've got a good team here to help us out with with all that."
Eagles fans will be too busy over the next few days rejoicing in the Super Bowl LIX but Johnson's promise to return is part of one of the best things about the win: This team is still in a position to run it back in 2026. The offense will look almost exactly the same as it did this year.
Johnson will be 35 years old next season and his contract that runs through the 2026 NFL season. He's due $20 million next year.
