The Philadelphia Eagles and their fan base have a new reason to smile after some breaking news on Thursday morning. Lane Johnson has revealed his plan for the 2026 season in a rather simple, but riveting, way.

Lane Johnson plans to play 14th season with Eagles in 2026

The offensive tackle isn’t done quite yet. Instead, Johnson seemed to reveal on social media with just a couple of emojis that he’s going to be back on the field for the Eagles next season. He is clearly excited for it.

Eagles insider Jeff McLane also confirmed that Johnson will play next season, rather than retiring from the NFL.

“Lane Johnson just told me that he’s officially returning for a 14th season with the #Eagles. Having the future HOF right tackle will be key as HC Nick Sirianni alters the offense under new OC Sean Mannion in 2026.” — Jeff McLane

Johnson will play his first season without offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland. The long-time leader of Philly’s OL chose to leave the team earlier this offseason after some differing opinions and disagreements with the coaching staff last season.

For Stoutland, the future remains up in the air. That sort of worry was culminating for Johnson as well. Recent reports were not indicating whether he would play again, and in actuality, there were plenty of people who thought both Johnson and Landon Dickerson may retire.

Dickerson has yet to make an announcement on his future, as he’s still mulling over his options. He has dealt with multiple injuries, placing a lot of stress on his body and long-term physical outlook.

Regardless, this news regarding Johnson’s status for next season is a massive win for the Eagles. They will now look to continue improving their offensive line under the leadership of their new OL coach, Chris Kuper.
