The latest Philadelphia Eagles news bomb is exposing a lot about what happened during the team's historic 2023 late-season collapse — if it's true.

According to sources close to JAKIB Sports host Derrick Gunn, Jalen Hurts had a lot of unexpected pressure on him after signing a 5-year, $255 million contract deal ahead last offseason which he did not handle well

Additionally, per Gunn, Big Dom's suspension following Week 13's sidelined incident hurt the team even more because one of his main responsibilities is to keep head coach Nick Sirianni's emotions intact.

Without Big Dom's presence, Sirianni's emotions were uncontrolled and he argued more with players and coaches during the game.

Gunn's report isn't too far-fetched considering the Eagle's 10-1 start season completely went underwater after the team lost to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13 and lost Big Dom to a suspension.

Dre Greenlaw was called for a personal foul after this interaction with Eagles security staffer Dom DiSandro. Both were ejected from the game.

The only problem I have with it is that Sirianni and several players got into it while Big Dom was still present early in the season.

Furthermore, Hurts played through several injuries which started at the very beginning of the season with a knee injury and turned into a knee and ankle injury.

He also played with a broken finger in the playoffs. Despite battling and playing through these injuries, Hurts did not miss a game in 2023. The pressure of the new contract could have kept him from taking any time off even if he was in pain.

Gunn's report isn't mind-blowing or shocking news by any means and it might explain a lot about what other factors may have contributed to the Eagles' downfall.
