The latest report from ESPN regarding Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has to be concerning for fans.
Hurts is dealing with a sprained right shoulder and his availability for Saturday's game against the Dallas Cowboys is in doubt.
Philly head coach Nick Sirianni isn't ruling Hurts out for the Dallas game.
"I do not put it past Jalen Hurts, I don't put anything past Jalen Hurts as far as his physical and mental toughness,'' said Sirianni. "There's a chance he can play this week.''
A report from ESPN's Dan Graziano, however, suggests that Hurts might not play the rest of the regular season.
My understanding on Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, based on conversations I've had Monday and Tuesday: There's pretty much no chance he plays this week, and after that it'll be a week-to-week thing. The most likely scenario sounds like he'll be out at least two weeks, though the Eagles have real hope he will be ready in time for their playoff game, which (if they get the 1-seed, as they should) won't be until either Jan. 21 or 22. If he's feeling up to it by Week 18, maybe they get him into that game so he's not overly rusty two weeks later, but the priority is making sure the shoulder injury is fully healed and not something that will affect him once he does return.

If the Eagles beat the Cowboys this weekend, they'll lock up the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
In that scenario, it makes sense to rest Hurts' shoulder for the rest of the season so he's as healthy as possible for the playoffs.
Though at the same time, there would be a concern about how a layoff would impact Hurts. Those long layoffs before the playoffs can sometimes be a huge negative for players/teams.
We'll see how this transpires over the next week. But it's certainly concerning that Hurts is dealing with this injury at the most important time of the season.
