The Philadelphia Eagles had a massive victory on Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams, ending with a 37-20 blowout win that saw Nick Sirianni and the Eagles take complete control in the second half. Led by running back Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia was powered by their rushing attack that went for 314 yards and averaged an absurd seven yards per carry as a team.

After some early season struggles for the Eagles, they are playing about as well as any team in the NFL. The win over the Rams was their seventh straight victory after beginning the season with a 2-2 overall record. Philadelphia has captured a ton of momentum after the last few weeks, although quarterback Jalen Hurts doesn’t fully agree with that, or at least the thought of momentum,

“Momentum is the fakest thing out there because it can end and begin at any moment,” Hurts told a reporter after the game.

Now obviously, most people understand what Hurts was trying to say. Clearly he meant that since momentum ends, you have to keep moving forward so you won’t waste it. This moment still went viral, however, causing many X followers a look of confusion following the game.

We can have a deep conversation about the importance of momentum, and whether it is an overstated part of the game of football. When things are going well, things do seem to stay good for a while. The same can be said for when something doesn’t go right.

Regardless, momentum is a very real thing. Whether we are talking about the metaphorical thought of momentum or the physical, its existence is unquestioned. Hurts’ comments about momentum being “fake” would have Sir Isaac Newton enraged.

All you have to do is look up Newton’s second law, which is centered around momentum and how it is created. Newton defined "momentum" as the "quantity of motion," essentially meaning the product of an object's mass and its velocity, and his second law of motion states that the rate of change of an object's momentum is directly proportional to the net force acting on it.

Why here Hurts truly does believe in momentum or not, the Eagles have a lot of it right now. They look like arguably the top team in the NFC along with the Detroit Lions. They are playing on a very high level and hope that continues.
