Pro Football Focus thinks a key Philadelphia Eagles player could be in line for a contract extension in the not-so-distant future.

PFF's Brad Spielberger recently pointed out several players that could be extension candidates and he listed Eagles cornerback James Bradberry among those players.

From PFF:

Bradberry was signed to a one-year, $7.25 million deal this offseason after the NFC East rival New York Giants made him a cap casualty as they kick-started their rebuild. Bradberry has been spectacular so far for Philadelphia, forming one of the top outside cornerback duos in the NFL opposite Darius Slay, earning a 77.0 coverage grade that ties for 15th-best. Since 2020, Bradberry ranks sixth among cornerbacks in PFF’s wins above replacement metric, and while he appears a better fit as a No. 2 cornerback for the tail end of his career, there’s a perfect situation set up in Philadelphia.

Bradberry is scheme-diverse, with experience playing a lot of press-man coverage at prior stops with the Carolina Panthers and Giants, and now continuing to excel with more soft and off alignments in Philadelphia.

Spielberger predicts that Bradberry will receive a two-year extension worth $24 million ($12 million per year) with $16.5 million total guaranteed.

The fact that Philly is even in this position with Brabberry is because of a misstep by the New York Giants. The Giants released Bradberry before the season because of his salary.

They likely didn't want to see him go to a division rival, but that's their own fault for releasing him instead of trading him. New York would've been wise to trade Bradberry out of the division for a conditional seventh-round pick.

The Eagles, however, are quite happy the Giants made this mistake because it just made Philly's defense that much better.
