NFL free agency can be a rollercoaster. For the Philadelphia Eagles, they’ve got some impending free agents to worry about on both sides of the ball.

Let’s look at a possible addition from outside their 2025 roster, though. Bringing in another wide receiver, who can provide stability alongside A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith, needs to be on general manager Howie Roseman’s radar.

FOX Sports predicts Eagles sign former Packers WR Romeo Doubs

Greg Auman did a breakdown on the top 100 free agents around the NFL for this offseason. With the list, a prediction for each player was included as well, and the Eagles came away with one of the top WRs on the market.

Former Green Bay Packers WR Romeo Doubs was predicted to land in a different shade of green. I love this concept, since he could be the clear third option at the position. The Eagles have struggled to find a consistent option in that role in recent seasons, and Jahan Dotson is a free agent as well.

“Doubs, 25, has had steady mid-level production in Green Bay, averaging 50 catches, 600 yards and five touchdowns a year in his four seasons there. He stepped up in the playoff loss with eight catches for 124 yards and a score — finding value in a No. 2 receiver can be tough, and he’s likely to come in the $12-15 million range, above the $11 million extension Christian Watson signed for last year. By Pro Football Reference’s “Approximate Value” metric, the top two picks of the 2022 fourth round were both Packers, in Doubs and tackle Zach Tom, already signed to a nice extension.

Sean Mannion hire may help Philadelphia land Doubs

The new offensive coordinator for Philly has direct ties to the wideout, too. He was an assistant for Green bay over the past two seasons and shared a relationship with the team’s offensive playmakers. Doubs was arguably the most consistent of the bunch when you consider injuries, production, and overall reliability for the Packers offense.

Now, with Mannion calling plays for the Eagles, I wouldn’t be shocked if that connection paid off for Philadelphia. Jalen Hurts had one of his worst seasons as a pro in 2025, and I am sure Mannion’s first task will be to take pressure off of him as much as possible.

Adding another viable WR to the depth chart can play a hand there. Plus, there’s that sense of continuity for the pass catcher as well. Doubs knows the sort of scheme that Mannion will run with Philly and can help the other skill players make adjustments in the offseason and early on in games.

This move makes a ton of sense for everyone involved. We will see if Roseman, along with head coach Nick Sirianni, finds a way to get Doubs to sign when free agency opens around the league.
