The Philadelphia Eagles may not be ringing in the new year on a high note, but at least fans have another early matchup to look forward to in Week 18.

The NFL announced their Week 18 schedule an hour out from the NYE midnight ball drop and the Eagles will play their final regular season matchup against the New York Giants on Sunday, Jan. 7 at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.

The Eagles were once highly regarded as the best team in the league this season. With a 10-1 record, they controlled the NFC East. The No. 1 seed was in the palm of their hands and quarterback Jalen Hurts was in the MVP conversation.

But after their Week 17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Eagles are now 11-5, sitting at the No. 5 seed, and looking at a wild card matchup on the road.

The Eagles can reclaim the No. 2 seed and still win the NFC East in Week 18, but they'll need to bank on the Dallas Cowboys losing to the Washington Commanders, which is also slated for a 4:25 p.m. Sunday kickoff.
