He's one of the few coaches in NFL history to captain a team to a 12-1 record heading into Week 15. And for it, he's finally getting the adulation he deserves. ESPN NFL insiders Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler ranked Sirianni as the top candidate to win the NFL's Coach of the Year award.
Their lists are the following:
Fowler: 1. Nick Sirianni, 2. Ron Rivera (Commanders) 3. Kevin O’Connell (Vikings), 4. Mike McDaniel (Dolphins), 5. Brian Daboll (Giants)/Robert Saleh (Jets).
Graziano: 1. Nick Sirianni, 2. Brian Daboll, 3. Mike McDaniel, 4. Kevin O’Connell. 5. Robert Saleh.
"Sirianni’s Eagles have met every challenge and stayed at the top of the league all year long. Daboll and Saleh have elevated moribund New York teams into contention."
Sirianni's Eagles have clinched a playoff spot already. And his team remains the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Philadelphia's 12-1 record marks the second time they have improved to that mark in franchise history. The last time the Eagles held a similar record was in 2004 when the team they lost to the New England Patriots.
Sirianni has recorded more wins (21-9, .700) than any other head coach in their first 30 games with the Eagles. He’s also the fourth coach to start 12-1 or better in their first or second career season as a head coach, joining Jim Caldwell (2009 Colts), George Seifert (1990 49ers), and Red Miller (1977 Broncos).
