The latest rumors surrounding the Eagles' draft plans might raise some eyebrows.

According to Tony Pauline of The Draft Network, general manager Howie Roseman and the Eagles are infatuated with Northwestern EDGE Adetomiwa Adebawore.

Adebawore collected five sacks and nine tackles for loss for the Wildcats in 2022.

“I'm told that Howie Roseman loves the guy,” Pauline writes. “So Adebawore is one of those guys [to watch], and we see a lot of strange things happen late in Round 1. He's got the measurables … he's got the athleticism … he's smart as a whip, I sat and talked to him for about 30 minutes at the combine."

Adebawore has not been mentioned often as a first-round prospect. The Draft Network, for example, gives Adebawore a third-round grade.

Grinding the Mocks is a mock draft aggregator that ranks prospects based on their average draft position across multiple spots. The site has Adebawore with an expected draft position of 43.2, which would put him toward the top of round two.

The Eagles currently possess the 10th and 30th picks in the first round. While the Northwestern defender will likely not be in play at No. 10, he could be a realistic option at 30. While it may seem like a reach, he would fill a need and projects to be an average rotational edge at worst.

Adebawore has played inside at defensive tackle and has also played on the edge. The defender was able to generate substantial interior pressure in college, but may not have the size to do so in the NFL. In Philadelphia, Adebawore would likely play a Derek Barnett-type role as a 4-3 defensive end.

Adebawore tied for the fourth-fastest 40-yard dash time among edge rushers at the combine, so he should be able to successfully generate pressure off of the edge.

There is some concern about his lack of eye-popping college stats and his unique build. Adebawore is likely too light to play on the interior DL and doesn't have the reach or height that most edge rushers do.

Nevertheless, Roseman might have decided who he's selecting at the end of the first round.
