The big-time brawl between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders cast a dark cloud over the matchup in Week 16. With division rivalries, there is always extra tenacity and energy. Those two aspects of the clash escalated in the second half, and the NFL has now handed out penalties.

Fortunately for the Eagles, they came up on the winning side of the “fine battle” from the league’s latest decision-making process.

Only one Eagles player fined from fight vs. Commanders

There were five players fined by the NFL for multiple reasons during the brawl. Only one of them was from Philadelphia: offensive lineman Tyler Steen. Steen singlehandedly took on about six different Commanders players at once at one point. Clearly, the league felt Washington instigated and escalated the situation.

Check out the full fine list from the Eagles-Commanders fight below.

  • Eagles OL Tyler Steen: $8,435 for unnecessary roughness & $8,435 for unsportsmanlike conduct
  • Commanders DL Javon Kinlaw: $20,288 for unsportsmanlike conduct
  • Commanders DB Quan Martin: $11,572 for unnecessary roughness
  • Commanders CB Mike Sainristil: $9,725 for unnecessary roughness
  • Commanders DB Will Harris: $11,593 for a facemask

No players were suspended for the fight, which is a sound decision by the NFL. Both teams held their tempers for most of the matchup, and this lone elevation should not (and will not) cost anyone time on the field.

The Eagles are prepping for a rainy contest against the Buffalo Bills in Week 17. Both teams are playing for playoff seeding and expect many starters to play as long as necessary.
