Much uncertainty surrounded Jason Kelce after the 2022 NFL season.

It was widely thought that the star center would hang up his cleats after completing his 12th season in the league.

Instead, Kelce decided to run it back, in part due to his brother's team defeating the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

The elder Kelce joined the Rich Eisen Show to discuss his decision to return.

Eisen asked Kelce if losing the Super Bowl played a role in his comeback.

It's funny you say that because, you know, before the Super Bowl, I got asked that question by media members: 'If you win, and you're done, is this gonna impact your decision?' And at the time, I said, no, and I'd like to think that won't impact it, because I don't think it should."

But it does, I think. I don't know what would have happened if we would have won, but my brother said something before we even started the season. He said… 'You know, losing a Super Bowl, I've won one and I've lost one, but losing a Super Bowl, man, you've never wanted to win one that much more.' And at the time, I'm like, 'That's great, he's just saying something to the fans that are there in attendance. Like it sounds good. And, you know, just acting like he's really motivated to win a Super Bowl.'"

And then I lost the Super Bowl and I realized, okay, it is heartbreaking to go that far with a really good team and all these guys and to be that close and not get it done. It's it is a difficult thing to cope with, and I'll probably always be coping with that.

Kelce mentioned his brother, Travis, talking about how bad losing a Super Bowl hurts. Before the 2022 season, Jason Kelce had only been in one Super Bowl, and the Eagles won it (Super Bowl LII).

Travis Kelce has been in three Super Bowls and has emerged victorious in two of those.

Jason Kelce has had an excellent career as an Eagle, being a Pro Bowler six times and a First-team All-Pro five times.

At the start of free agency, it was announced that Kelce will sign a one-year, $14.25 million deal with the Eagles.
