Nick Foles reveals Sean Mannion’s secret superpower that will help the new Eagles offensive coordinator quickly prove himself
The Super Bowl champ believes in Sean Mannion’s abilities as a coach.
Sean Mannion, welcome to Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Eagles have their new offensive coordinator in Mannion, as well as a new quarterbacks coach in Josh Grizzard. Both are intriguing hires and make sense for the Eagles future in the short and long-term.
A Super Bowl champion and former Eagles quarterback has already proven some trust in Mannion’s future, too.
Sean Mannion has already impressed former Eagles QB Nick Foles
Nick Foles has never shied away from talking Eagles football, and a recent clip from his podcast has gone a bit viral since the announcement of Mannion’s arrival. It’s for good reason as well, as he unveils some excitement regarding the hire.
On a recent podcast episode of The SZN with Nick Foles & Evan Moore, the former Eagles QB showed how confident he is in Mannion working out. He thinks that the new Eagles OC is “built of the right stuff” – if you will. Foles noted that it seemed like Mannion had a photographic memory because of his recall ability.
Foles’ sentiment falls in line with the belief from Matt LaFleur when it comes to Mannion’s long-term outlook.
“He’s got a bright future in this profession,” LaFleur recently said. “He attacks it the same way I knew he would when he was a player. Just extreme ownership of everything, puts in the time and goes above and beyond the call of duty, which is exactly what you want from your assistant coaches.”
— Packers HC Matt Lafleur
The new Eagles OC has never called plays in the NFL, so there is inherent risk with this move. That being said, he worked closely with LaFleur in Green Bay last season, and the head coach is one of the most well-respected offensive builders in the entire league. Not to mention, Mannion spent nearly a decade in the pros as a player.
No matter what – Mannion has a lot of believers inside and outside of that building in Philadelphia.
His lack of coaching experience hasn’t limited many people inside the sport to pushing him aside as a potential fast-riser in the coaching ranks.
Instead, Mannion’s steady impact and dynamic offensive mind at such a young age may land him consistent promotions sooner rather than later. His next task if proving the Eagles right when it comes to giving him play calling duties for their offense in 2026.
