Nick Sirianni’s latest decision may backfire on him if the Eagles don’t fix a huge problem on offense for next season
The Eagles need more consistency, or there will be even more questions to answer in 2026.
Nick Sirianni doesn’t shy away from bold decisions that he believes in for the Philadelphia Eagles. That was evident last season when he doubled down on keeping his offensive staff fairly unchanged during a frustrating campaign.
Now, with offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland out the door, there are plenty of new faces and adjustments along the coaching staff to hopefully improve the unit for 2026. One choice for continuity is a risky one from Sirianni, though.
Eagles plan to keep WRs coach Aaron Moorehead among major staff changes
Amid a ton of shifting along the Eagles coaching staff, at least one name is going to remain the same. Aaron Moorehead is expected to be retained as the team’s wide receivers coach.
The retention of Moorehead was a bit surprising. After a season where A.J. Brown’s production was far too inconsistent and a true WR3 did not emerge, there were some wonders if he could be an assistant on his way out.
With the exit of Kevin Patullo from play calling duties (and ultimately the team), it seems like the Eagles may believe that the position coaches for their skill spots weren’t necessarily to blame for some lackluster performances a season ago. Rather, they think those coaches can still get the job done given an improved system, scheme, and play caller.
Sean Mannion, the new offensive coordinator, will call plays for the Eagles next season.
Regardless, the decision to keep Moorehead is one that some fans will raise an eyebrow at, but Sirianni hasn’t wavered in his confidence in him as of yet. The Eagles must be more effective in finding consistent and explosive ways to get the football in the hands of Brown, Devonta Smith, and the depth targets at wideout in 2026.
Expected Eagles offensive coaching staff so far
- Offensive coordinator: Sean Mannion
- Pass game coordinator: Josh Grizzard
- TEs/run game coordinator: Ryan Mahaffey
- Offensive line: Chris Kuper
- RBs/assistant head coach: Jemal Singleton
- Wide receivers: Aaron Moorehead
The Eagles have not yet made a decision about who will fill their quarterbacks coach job. There was a possibility that Kevin Patullo could land that position, but he’s off to the Miami Dolphins to be their pass game coordinator.
We will see what other roles that Sirianni has in mind for his offensive group going into next season as the offseason unfolds.
