Jalen Hurts did a lot of things right in Sunday's 40-33 win over the Green Bay Packers.

He also made some history along the way. By the end of the first quarter, Hurts amassed over 100 yards rushing, making it the first time the feat was done in 30 years. He then followed that up by ending the night with 157 rushing yards, breaking former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vicks' record of most rushing yards by a quarterback, which was set in December of 2010 against the New York Giants.

"It means everything," said Hurts, who also threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns. "I always talk about how I admire the way they play the game, and to be thrust into that category in different things — it's a blessing. It's a lot of hard work going into it.

"I have a ton of respect for them and their support. They don't even know how they've affected me and impacted me in my time here. It's an understatement to say how much I appreciate them because I do. They've guided me in more ways than they even know."

What the Packers coach had to say

The night was so impressive even Packers' coach Matt Lafleur took notice of how special Hurts was against his team.

"He did a lot of things that are tough to account for," Lafleur said. "He is an unbelievable talent. It’s ironic that I think we were the first team a couple of years ago, I think that was the first game he got significant action in. I know we studied him in the draft, and to see his progression to where he is today, I think is a credit to him and the coaching staff."

He added: "The guy is everything I’ve heard about him just coming out. He’s a hell of a competitor, and he’s extremely talented. You saw it not only obviously on the ground. That’s one thing, but there are some remarkable throws as well.”

Hurts has put the NFL on notice. This year is serving as a referendum to all who assumed the Eagles couldn't win with him. And it is apparent that, along with the winning, Hurts is breaking records as well.

"I think that's a natural gift he has, how he runs the ball and how he uses his legs, which we're definitely going to need down the line," Philadelphia wide receiver A.J. Brown said. "He did a really good job today on the ground making stuff happen."
