With the Philadelphia Eagles on the hunt for a defensive coordinator, they are leaving no stone unturned.

Recently, the Eagles have shown interest in Jesse Minter, the University of Michigan's defensive coordinator. This is the latest development as NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that the Eagles are "scanning both the NFL and college ranks" for job candidates.

Alongside the Minter interview, Philadelphia also interviewed Los Angeles Rams defensive backs coach and passing-game coordinator Chris Shula.

If the Eagles elect to bring in Shula, he would be a familiar face. He was on staff during Nick Sirianni's tenure with the then-San Diego Chargers in 2015-16.

Minter's strength is that he is the architect of Michigan's impressive defense. At the college level, Minter presided over a Michigan defense that ranked top-10 nationally in points and yards allowed.

Additionally, Minter also already has NFL experience. He spent four seasons on staff with the Baltimore Ravens, first as a defensive assistant (2017-19) and then as defensive backs coach (2020) before becoming a high-level defensive coordinator in college.

What helps the Eagles is that he is in the second of a three-year deal at Michigan, which is set to pay him a base salary of $925,000 in 2023. And He would not owe the school a buyout if he were to leave for a job in the NFL, per terms of his contract.

If he turns out to be the candidate for Philadelphia, it would indicate a willingness to take a risk after a run to the Super Bowl.
