Focus can be difficult to maintain for a 24-year-old quarterback who currently sits on the top of the football world. However, Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is growing up before our eyes after the team’s first 4-0 start since 2004.
Hurts addressed the media on Thursday, but was not asked a single question about the Eagles’ Week 5 opponent in the Arizona Cardinals.
After he finished answering questions on just how well the offense has been clicking, Hurts finished his time on the podium by putting his mature mindset on display.
“I didn’t get any questions about the Cardinals,” said Hurts amidst reporters thanking him for his time behind the microphone. “This is a really good team we’re about to play. They have a really good defense, disruptive up front, they have speed on the backend. Let’s not set the precedent for that. This is a good football team."
He wanted to send a message to everybody, his teammates included, that going on the road to face Arizona will not be a walk in the park.
Hurts is looking and sounding like a franchise quarterback. One who won’t let a stretch of success get to his head.
It’s clear that Hurts has much larger goals for his team in mind. He is locked in on the task at hand, reassuring everyone within earshot that this cross-country caravan is nothing short of a business trip.
