The Philadelphia Eagles could be facing a difficult decision for their Week 5 matchup on the road against Arizona Cardinals.

The status of Eagles kicker Jake Elliott, who hasn’t missed a game since signing with the team in Week 2 of 2017, is up in the air after suffering a leg injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

With Elliott’s health in question the Eagles signed Cameron Dicker to the practice squad.

Dicker, who was appropriately nicknamed Dicker the Kicker in his time at the University of Texas, was made popular by drilling clutch field goals late in games. He connected on 13-of-15 field goals (86.7%) last season, and has a career-long of a 57-yarder in 2019..

The Jaguars roughed Elliott on a 42-yard field goal attempt as time expired in the third quarter. He was seen limping around on the sideline, but would send a 28-yarder through the uprights later on the drive.

The extent to Elliot’s injury is unknown, but head coach Nick Sirianni made two decisions which lead me to believe the impact could be significant enough to hold him out of this week’s contest.

On the following two drives Sirianni made the decision to go for two while up 27-20 with just under nine minutes to play. He also came under fire later for attempting a fourth-down conversion with the Eagles in range to ice the game with a chip shot 38-yard field goal try.

Obviously the hope is that Elliott can play, but the Eagles aren’t taking any chances thus the decision to sign Dicker the Kicker.
