Potential front runner emerges for Eagles OC job after Philadelphia makes decision to give him a useful advantage
The Eagles want another look at the young assistant.
Another day offensive coordinator searching for the Philadelphia Eagles. This time, though, there seems to be a candidate from an NFC foe emerging as one of the top options on Philly’s radar.
Sean Mannion interviewing for a second time with Eagles
According to Adam Schefter, the Eagles are interviewing Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion for a second time on Wednesday. Getting a second interview with Philadelphia during this process has been seemingly impossible, so this is a notable step forward for the young assistant.
The Packers hired Mannion in 2024 to be an offensive assistant. With that, he’s only been coaching in the NFL for two years. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has a ton of respect for him early in his coaching career, though. Mannion is just 33 years old.
“He’s got a bright future in this profession,” LaFleur recently said. “He attacks it the same way I knew he would when he was a player. Just extreme ownership of everything, puts in the time and goes above and beyond the call of duty, which is exactly what you want from your assistant coaches.”
“Mannion was also named the offensive coordinator for the West Team in the 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl, one of the top all-star games for college players entering the draft process.” — Wendell Ferreira
Mannion already underwent a virtual interview with Philly’s contingency, so he clearly made an impressive enough impression to earn another look from everyone involved. It remains to be seen who all has been a part of these interviews, but I would expect that head coach Nick Sirianni and GM Howie Roseman have both played large roles in the discussion process.
As time dwindles, fans only clamor for more news regarding this search. The Eagles have taken two weeks to go through candidates so far, but they haven’t formally offer anyone the job as of yet, according to Jeff McLane.
We will see if Mannion sways those tides and locks down the job sooner than later as th next offensive play caller for the Eagles.
