Just last week, Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman did not rule out trading up or down on Day 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft. And while Roseman did not come out and directly say it, he hinted that the Birds would not be sitting still at No. 32 overall.
“For me, I think that being aggressive has always been part of my DNA, and I feel fortunate that I have people around me who support that in Nick (Sirianni) and Jeffrey (Lurie), and it allows us to take chances and to try to be aggressive,” Roseman said.
The Eagles ended up trading up one spot with the Kansas City Chiefs to select Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell at No. 31 overall. KC received Philly's 32nd overall pick and their 2025 fifth-round pick at No. 164.
However, according to Fox Sports insider Jordan Schultz, the Eagles discussed trading up with the Green Bay Packers for their No. 23 overall pick.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport doubled down on Schultz's report, saying that Roseman was "working the phones trying to trade up."
The reports only confirm Roseman's aggressive DNA and their original draft plans to make a Day 1 trade.
While the Eagles didn't get a deal done (if there ever was one) with Green Bay or another team in the 20s, their later Round 1 trade worked out in their favor so that they didn't have to forfeit several draft picks.
That means Roseman has plenty of ammo left to be aggressive on Day 2 and beyond.
Roseman made eight trades in last year's draft. The Eagles still have six picks left to go, so expect Rosman to continue to work his trade magic.
