Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is not sleeping like a baby after winning his first Super Bowl.
In fact, winning a Lombardi has kept him up at night.
Why, you ask?
Because he is already hungry for another.
"Two nights ago, I had trouble sleeping because I’m thinking about how I can attack the offseason,” Barkley said. “Because you kind of get greedy’s not the word, but addicted to it. You want to find a way how you can hold that Lombardi [Trophy] up again and do it all over again.”
The Eagles signed Barkley during NFL free agency last spring and he was easily one of Howie Roseman's greatest offseason moves.
He finished the 2024 regular season rushing for 2,005 rushing yards on 345 attempts and 13 rushing touchdowns. He also hauled in 33 receptions for 278 receiving yards and two more scores.
Barkley became just the ninth player in NFL history to log 2,000-plus rushing yards in a single season and currently holds the eighth-most rushing yards in league history. He was also 101 rushing yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record, but the Eagles chose to rest their starter in Week 18 ahead of the playoff run.
Those numbers were enough to earn him the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year Award.
Barkley's goal of running it back in 2025 isn't far-fetched considering the team, especially the offense, will not look much different next fall.
