Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is giving the Philadelphia Eagles zero credit for their 21-17 win on Monday Night Football.
“Turnovers and penalties on our half. It’s nothing that they did,” Kelce told Kansas City reporters after the game. “It’s all us.”
He's not entirely wrong.
The Chiefs had two critical turnovers on Monday night that would have resulted in touchdowns had they simply not happened.
Both of those turnovers came on first downs inside the red zone.
Kelce’s own fumble inside the 10 came after the Chiefs converted a 4th and 1 early in the fourth quarter.
Patrick Mahomes' second-quarter interception also happened after a first down right inside the end zone.
As if those mistakes weren't enough, Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling dropped a deep pass that would’ve been a 51-yard touchdown to win the game with under two minutes to go in the fourth.
The Chiefs had a total of five dropped passes against Philly.
While Kansas City's mistakes were the Eagles' gain, Travis could have at least given major props to the Birds' defense for shutting down Mahomes entirely in the second half.
In fact, it was only the third time through 58 home games that Mahomes did not score a single point over the last two quarters.
Pretty or not, the Eagles are now 9-1 for the second consecutive season and have a short turnaround before facing the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
