The Philadelphia Eagles continue to monitor the interest in A.J. Brown. The wide receiver could be traded this offseason, and those murmurs only grow more common as free agency approaches.

On Wednesday, a blockbuster trade shook up the NFL, and it could have repercussions for the Eagles and general manager Howie Roseman.

Cost of Trent McDuffie may impact A.J. Brown’s trade market

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs are in talks to trade cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams for the 29th overall pick, a 2027 third-round draft pick, and fifth and sixth-round picks in 2026. How exactly could that play a role in the A.J. Brown trade situation?

Well, the Chiefs just received a first-round pick in the upcoming draft, along with a 3rd-round selection in next year’s draft for a 25-year-old All-Pro level CB. Yes, McDuffie is on an expiring deal, but Brown’s contract is a massive one.

For Brown, he is a wideout who will enter next season as a 29-year-old. He is coming off a season of some inconsistent production, and it remains to be seen if his best football is still ahead of him.

The latest report from Mike Garafolo revealed that the Eagles are seeking a “Quinnen Willliams type of deal” from whoever wants to acquire Brown. That would include a first-round pick, a second-round pick, and a notable player.

That sort of price seems extremely steep when you compare it to what just played out between the Chiefs and Rams for McDuffie.

Additionally, keep in mind how the Eagles added Brown to their roster. Philly acquired a then 25-year-old A.J. Brown for a first and fourth-round pick in 2021. It is a bit tough to imagine that his price on the trade market has actually increased since then, even if he has proven to be an All-Pro type of talent at times during his Eagles tenure.

Regardless, the Eagles front office and coaching staff have their work cut out for them when it comes to this potential deal. We’ll see what the ultimate outcome is between Philly and Brown.
