A look at the odds for NFL DPOY shows that Watt will need to defy the oddsmakers in their own city if he is to win his second defensive MVP.
Well, Evan Winter of A to Z Sports just predicted that's exactly what he'll do, and gave good reasoning for why it may happen:
Predicting Watt to Win DPOY
Prediction: T.J. Watt. This is where you put yourself in the minds of the voters. Not only did these same voters vote Watt first-team All-Pro, he led the league in sacks and had more splash plays than any of the other finalists. That stands out, more than anything. Although it's fair to wonder if Garrett's heroics against the Indianapolis Colts is still enough to win him the award. – Evan Winter, A to Z Sports
Watt leads presumptive winner Myles Garrett in virtually every statistical category when analyzing both of their seasons. This award was created to honor a defensive MVP and it is tough to argue there is a more valuable defender in the league than Watt is to Pittsburgh:

So we'll see what happens in a few hours. It's hard to fathom that Watt wins, but bigger upsets have happened before. Maybe Winter's prediction is the magic Watt needs to get over the top.
