Despite an off week against the Los Angeles Chargers last week, Aaron Rodgers has been a revelation within the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense. It’s clear that the offense has had a different tempo and energy through the first half of the season.

A tempo and energy that came from its signal caller. And sure, no one should confuse the Pittsburgh Steelers version of Rodgers with that of the one who was winning Super Bowls with the Green Bay Packers.

But everyone in Pittsburgh has noted what he has been with the Steelers. Yet, there is a chance we will see what the team looks like without him, yet again.

Oh, and what the defense looks like without its best secondary player.

Aaron Rodgers injures wrist in win vs. Bengals

Rodgers first injured his wrist after taking a big hit and falling awkwardly, before bracing his fall with the non-throwing arm. What was odd about the injury situation was that Rodgers finished the half without any mention of an injury.

However, after halftime, Mike Tomlin stated that Rodgers was being evaluated, and Mason Rudolph began warming up before taking over to start the third quarter. Even still, Rodgers was questionable well into the fourth quarter and was never officially ruled out by the team’s P.R.

Steelers’ fans have seen this song and dance before with Rudolph. It’s why the team brought him back in the first place. If objectively analyzing things, the drop-off between Rodgers at this stage of his career and Rudolph isn’t a giant one.

But the injury to Rodgers is a tricky one. It’s a left-hand/wrist injury. Obviously, we will find out more as the days and weeks go on, but this is not a lower-body injury, nor is it one to his throwing hand. So time will tell what comes from Rodgers’ injury, but he wasn’t the only big loss the Steelers incurred on Sunday.

Jalen Ramsey was ejected for throwing punch towards Ja’Marr Chase

Jalen Ramsey and Ja’Marr Chase were jawing back and forth all game before things escalated to the point where the two had to be separated. But it went beyond that. Ramsey decided to grab Chase’s facemask and then throw a punch. One that cost him the rest of the game, and that could have rippling effects given his recent history in terms of NFL punishment.

Expect Ramsey to be fined at the very least, but the NFL has come down hard on players in the past for these kinds of things. A suspension would be costly for a Steelers’ secondary that looked as if it was finally catching its stride.
