Despite what transpired on the field, the Pittsburgh Steelers approached the Colts game with: "A playoff mentality," according to Coach Tomlin.

That's because they could ill afford to lose when you look at the landscape of the AFC.

Well, not only did Pittsburgh drop their third in a row, but they received no help from fellow AFC foes:

AFC playoff picture if the season ended today:

  1. Baltimore Ravens (11-3) – 1st AFC North
  2. Miami Dolphins (10-4) – 1st AFC East
  3. Kansas City Chiefs (9-5) – 1st AFC West
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-6) – 1st AFC South
  5. Cleveland Browns (9-5) – Wild Card
  6. Cincinnati Bengals (8-6) – Wild Card
  7. Indianapolis Colts (8-6) – Wild Card

In the hunt:

Not only did Pittsburgh get embarrassed in Indy, but the Vikings fell to the Bengals earlier on Saturday, followed by comeback wins from the Browns and Texans, as well as a resounding win by the Bills.

Will the Steelers make the playoffs?

If the Pittsburgh Steelers were traded on the NYSE, the smart move would have been to sell a long time ago.

A team that once had a nearly 80% chance at making the postseason with a 7-4 record now finds themselves with a 3% chance at making the playoffs after dropping three games in a row.

Can Pittsburgh win the AFC North?

The Steelers' hopes for taking back the crown in the AFC North have officially vanished, as for the third year in a row, Pittsburgh is more likely to finish last in the division compared to first.
