Earlier this week, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette suggested that long-time Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wasn't necessarily ready to retire after this past season.

Dulac alluded to some "bad blood" between Roethlisberger and the Steelers.

If that bad blood exists, it's not affecting Roethlisberger's relationship with rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett, the No. 20 overall selection by Pittsburgh in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Pickett told reporters this week that Roethlisberger actually called him to offer advice to the former Pittsburgh Panthers standout.

“He said he’s always there for me if I have any questions or advice," said Pickett of Roethlisberger (via The Athletic). "He’s an unbelievable player, a Hall of Famer. He’s a guy I definitely will use as a resource in the coming weeks here.”

It certainly has to be nice for Steelers fans to know that if Roethlisberger isn't allowing any perceived bad blood to damage his relationship with the franchise.

Pittsburgh is hoping that Pickett will be the team's next franchise quarterback. But if that's going to happen, he has to first beat out veteran quarterback Mitch Trubisky for the job. The Steelers signed Trubisky this offseason with the expectation that he'll be Pittsburgh's starter in 2022. Pickett, however, will have a legitimate shot to steal the job from Trubisky.

I don't think Roethlisberger is taking sides in this quarterback battle, but it sounds like he might be team Pickett.
