There's something to be said about a team that just won't quit.
No one embodied that better than the Pittsburgh Steelers did last weekend vs. Baltimore, scratching and clawing their way to victory.
Well, former two-time Super Bowl Champion Chris Long just perfectly described this team:
Don't Let Them Hang Around
“If you have a party, they're [Pittsburgh Steelers] that guy that if you don't get them out of the house by 10 o'clock, the mother******'s gonna be sleeping on your couch," Long said on his podcast. The Steelers are gonna be sleeping on your couch if you leave them in the ballgame.”
While funny, I would say his analogy is pretty spot on. This team is the guy that you don't even want to invite. You know they won't provide much in return, but they sure will drink the booze, eat the food, and stay until the last minute with no offer to clean up.
That's the 2023 Pittsburgh Steelers. They will probably be in a lot of games they shouldn't, in it all the way until the end, making the one or two big plays required to win ball games in this league.
So strap in Steelers' fans, it's going to be a stressful season.
