The Pittsburgh Steelers addressed their quarterback situation this offseason by signing Mitch Trubisky to a two-year deal earlier this week.
Trubisky is expected to be the starter, even though the Steelers will have a "quarterback competition" this fall.
Mason Rudolph, who has a 5-4-1 career record as a starter, is currently the Steelers' No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart.
While Trubisky is expected to be the starter in 2022, he's not viewed as a long-term answer for the Steelers.
The expectation is that Pittsburgh will select a quarterback with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
If that happens, then ESPN's Kevin Seifert thinks Rudolph will be traded.
Mason Rudolph is going to be on the move. The Steelers sure seem like they want to find their long-term starter in the draft, and they wouldn't have signed Trubisky if they thought Rudolph could be their bridge starter. They've seen plenty of him, both in practices and in games, over the years.

This makes some sense, though it's not like the return for Rudolph will be big. Pittsburgh might get a late-round pick for him.
And this definitely wouldn't happen until after the draft, since there's no guarantee that a quarterback will fall to the Steelers in the first couple of rounds.
Either way, it's clear that Rudolph isn't the future for the Steelers. And it certainly feels like his time in Pittsburgh is coming to an end.
