For the first time in nearly two decades, we don't know who the Pittsburgh Steelers' starting quarterback will be next season.
It could be Mason Rudolph, who would be the starter if the season started today.
Or the Steelers could make a splash and trade for a veteran like Russell Wilson or Kirk Cousins. Or maybe they sign a free agent like Mitch Trubkisy.
OR maybe, the Steelers draft a quarterback and let him start day one.
Pretty much every option is on the table (except Ben Roethlisberger unretiring — I don't see that happening).

ESPN NFL insider Field Yates recently predicated who the starting quarterback will be for each NFL team in week one of the 2022 season.
His guess for Pittsburgh?
Current San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
Here's what Yates had to say:
With Lance forecasted as the starter in San Francisco, Jimmy G needs a new home and Pittsburgh checks some of the proper boxes. The Steelers have a massive need, cap space to afford him and are far enough down in the draft order in a class that doesn't offer any surefire quarterback prospects that a veteran trade makes sense to keep this team in the playoff mix.
I just don't see this happening. For starters, Garoppolo is set to have surgery on his throwing shoulder. And he's expected to miss 16 weeks, which means he'll miss OTAs. Who knows how his recovery will go. Even in a best-case scenario, he would return just as training camp opens. That's a bit of a gamble.
Pittsburgh probably wouldn't want to give up the type of draft capital it would take to land Garoppolo.
And I don't blame them. If the Steelers are going to make a deal and give up significant draft picks, they need to get a sure thing in return.
I think we're much more likely to see Pittsburgh draft a quarterback to develop behind Rudolph or sign a free agent like Trubisky.
